SERITA

KAKOMIRAI is a play on words, with kako referring to the past and mirai referring to the future. The song was created in collaboration between the artist and Tokyo-based Mio Sakai, who also features Australian singer-songwriter Yuuko Sings. Behind the energetic production and arrangement is producer-songwriter Cecil Opia, who has also co-produced Serita's three previous releases.

"I first met my father in my early teens, but before that I only knew him through photographs. When I was young, I looked at a lot of old photo albums, imagining what our life had been like before my parents divorced. Through these photographs, I felt like I was getting to know my father better before I met him. Fortunately, our relationship later deepened, and he often sent photographs from Japan with his letters. In addition, I am also a graphic artist, so images in general have a special place in my heart."

Although the song looks positively at the past, its message is that it is good to peek into the past, but you shouldn't get stuck in it. Instead, we should learn from it and use what we learn to strengthen our future.
